GST Relativities 2025–26
The Commonwealth Grants Commission (CGC) is an independent statutory authority. It is responsible for recommending to the Commonwealth Treasurer the relativities used to distribute the GST revenue to states and territories (states).
On Friday 14 March 2025, the CGC will release several products, including its recommendations for the distribution of GST revenue to the states in 2025–26.
GST Relativities 2025–26
GST Relativities 2025–26 will present the Commission’s recommendations for the distribution of GST revenue to the states in 2025–26. The recommendations include changes to some assessment methods in the 2025 Methodology Review.
GST Relativities 2025–26: Overview will present a summary of factors influencing the recommended GST distribution.
State Snapshots will simply explain the key factors affecting the recommended GST distribution for each state.
Review Outcomes
Review Outcomes will present the Commission’s final position on the issues considered throughout the consultation process for the 2025 Methodology Review.
A methodology review occurs approximately every 5 years at the direction of the Commonwealth Treasurer. It provides an opportunity for the Commission, in consultation with the states, to review its methods and overall approach to calculating the recommended GST distribution.

Commission’s Assessment Methodology will provide a detailed description of the Commission’s framework and assessment methods, including changes made as part of the 2025 Methodology Review.
